How It Works - Partnering Organizations

Currently, there are organizations that provide assistance to the elderly and low income community as well as education, technology, and resources for making homes more resource efficient. "1House At A Time" will join forces with these existing organizations and volunteers to literally go into the homes and complete the transformation process. Meals On Wheels and More of Austin has partnered with "1House At A Time" in order to identify homes to be transformed. We are looking to Austin Energy to provide their expertise, services, and rebates through their weatherization, and energy-efficient appliance rebate programs. Similarly, we are looking to City of Austin Water Utility to provide expertise, services and rebates through their water efficient shower heads and faucet aerators as well as toilet and clothes washer rebate programs. Volunteers will coordinate the transformation effort, perform the work, train other volunteers, train the homeowners, and assist the homeowners during the transformation event. Local businesses will be enrolled to sponsor homes through the donation of or discounting of these materials. Professional contractors will donate their time or provide discounted labor rates.
