How It Works

"1House At A Time" will transform these homes to be energy and water efficient through home weatherization, new energy and water efficient appliances, new or upgraded HVAC systems, low flush toilets and efficient water fixtures, rain barrels, and energy saving devices such as programmable thermostats, compact fluorescent bulbs, and easily accessible power strips to reduce phantom loads. Additionally, we will train and educate homeowners to make the best use of their newly transformed homes. Our goal is to reduce utility bills by 50%. Through this effort, we will improve the quality of life for the homeowners and make a large positive environmental impact.

"1House At A Time" will leverage existing resources and generate matching funds from public and private entities to fill in the gaps. "1House At A Time" will be managed through A Nurtured World, a non-profit organization dedicated to a global change in the way people think about the environmental impact of their day-to-day activities - at home and in the workplace. A Nurtured World’s programs help people live environmentally sustainable, financially successful, and satisfying lives by helping individuals identify the connections between personal finances, health, satisfaction, and environmental impact. Because A Nurtured World is a 501(c)(3) organization, all contributions made to "1House At A Time" will be fully tax deductible.
