How It Works - 1House Work Event

Austin Energy will give 1House a list of additional improvements that can be made to the home. 1House and MOWAM will contact the homeowner to schedule a home visit. During the home visit, a 1House team leader will walk through the home review the list of improvements and identify any additional opportunities that there may be to improve energy and water efficiency. The 1House leader will also ask questions about occupant lifestyles that impact water and energy use in the home. Based on this information the 1House leader will write up a final list of improvements that will be completed during the work event as well as schedule a day for the work event. The homeowner will also be required to sign a liability waiver and if willing, give 1House authorization to take and use photographs from the event as well as obtain utility bill information.

Work events will usually occur on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until noon. A group of 5 to 20 volunteers, led by a team leader, will complete the home improvements and train the homeowner and occupants how to best use the new technology.
